Privacy Policy

If you have privacy related questions, you can always just drop me a message via email or contact form and I will try to answer as fast and thorough as can reasonably be expected!

Who I am

I am Fynn Freyer and this ( is my website, so I’m the one responsible for handling the data that gets collected and processed on this page.

You can email me at fynn[at] or via the contact form.

What personal data is collected and why it’s collected

This page collects information that can potentially be used to identify or contact an individual, such as name, email address, IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider, platform type, device type, operating system, date and time stamp of access, and other similar information.

Your data is collected automatically, when visiting the website and when you send it to me, e.g. by entering it into a contact form. Name and email will only be collected, if you explicitly put them into the contact form.

I collect this data to ensure correct function of the website, protect myself from spam, and analyse the websites’ usage.

Contact forms

If you use a contact form on this site, a TLS encrypted message with the form contents will be sent to me. I am using hCaptcha to protect the contact form from spam attacks, so usage data will be shared with the provider of hCaptcha (see also the ‘Who we share your data with’ section).

This site makes use of cookies to enable different functionalities.

If you visit the login page, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you dismiss the cookie notice, the site will set a cookie to remember that it was shown to you already. This cookie lasts one year and does not contain information, that can be used to identify you personally.

I also use the hCaptcha service, which might set cookies to protect the contact form against automated spam attacks. This is necessary to protect my legitimate interest of not being flooded by automated spam.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

That being said, except for the portfolio page, I try to avoid embedding 3rd party content.

This website is using Matomo to aid in evaluating how it’s used. The data is not sent to Matomo, but kept locally on the server, use of cookies is disabled, and it is set up, so that collected data is anonymized in such a way, that it can not be used to identify individual users. You can find relevant information on what’s being collected and how your data is handled on Matomo’s privacy page.

You can still explicitly opt out of tracking (counting your page hits), by following the instructions below, or setting the “Do not track” option in your browser.

You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.

How long we retain your data

If you sent a message via contact form, the content of your message will be saved in my inbox until you explicitly request it to be removed, or I decide to clean up my inbox.

I delete all Matomo raw data older than half a year, and only keep aggregate reports.

What rights you have over your data

You can request to receive a summary of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us, or that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I’m obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Furthermore, all data that is collected stays on servers in Germany, and the servers receive timely security updates to minimize risk of intrusion.
